Adding 2 more monkeys to the Birmingham Zoo

Grandma and Brandi being brave and taking an outing to the Birmingham Zoo with the kiddos.
We kept trying to get them to look at the camera.
Does that concrete look hot? Well, FYI, it is like fire on your rear end.
Good enough.

They liked the birds.
Elliott had to ask what every animal's name was.
Where to first? Grandma's favorite...the reptile house!

The kids had no problem getting up close and looking.
Grandma kept to the middle of the aisle.
Grandma tried to find the animal in the exhibit and concluded that there wasn't one in there. Brandi confirmed that there was indeed a huge 6-7 foot snake directly in front of the window that Grandma just didn't see. She will not be leading our survival party should anything happen.
Elliott wanted to know what that bird's name was. Grandma's response...Whitey. She just lost all naming privileges for the rest of the day.
Mom messing with Sam's flow. Not cool.
We just did miss the sea lion show but the sea lion left swimming put on his own performance for Elliott.
She loved that he was a good swimmer and jumper.

The kids didn't really care about the kangaroos...
they just wanted to play in the mine.
Sam knows that the most important thing about mining is having fashionable accessories. You just can't rush picking out the perfect hat.

The kangaroo though about getting up but then just laid back down. It is too dad-gum hot to do much else.
Elliott got to see hoot-hoots
and "pink birds!"
Sam would be the first to be eaten since he clearly wasn't paying attention to the gators below.
Of course Elliott was concerned that he was swimming in dirty water.
We watched the white swans...
and then the black swans...
and then a turtle swam by and almost got stuck on a leaf.
Elliott: What are those?
Grandma: Pink swans.
And that is why Grandma lost speaking privileges all together.
They are clearly the gay swans. Duh.

I thought that Daddy would like this picture. He didn't think it was very funny.

I just wanted to put my mother's picture right next to the one of the gorilla. I think he had less grey hair than she does.

RoLL TiDe!!
"Eww. Stinks."
Elliott agreeing that the pachyderms smell bad. If you weighed hundreds of pounds and had to stay outside all day, you would stink too.
The rhino was upset; the new bamboo fence made her hips look fat.
Elliott had to go potty so Sam hung out with Brandi and Grandma.

Elliott recanting her tales of heroism in the restroom.

Brandi found a picture of a camel on a garbage can.
Giraffes sure do eat a lot.
Elliott didn't want a kiss.
Time for a camel ride!
(Note Elliott's posture and facial expression. Dear Lord, please do not let this child discover glamour pageants. She is a Honey Boo-Boo Child in the making.)
Sam and Grandma cuddle while Brandi and Elliott wait for their turn.
Both were thrilled about the ride.

And now Elliott is done for the day.
The world around her changes but she stays locked in place.
 Sam the Lion-Hearted

Elliott looking like she is trying to escape his jaws.
 Hey you! Come over here!

 And with that
 they are done.
